On Saturday, Christ Church Preservation Trust welcomed local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in a closed ceremony at the Burial Ground. A generous special projects grant from the DAR allowed us to restore the 5th Street Allee Vault Gates.
These gates allow entrance into the most unique section of the Burial Ground. Installed around 1810, they open onto a brick path lined with ten family burial vaults of prominent 19th century Philadelphians. Among those interred here are George Archibald McCall and George Cadwalader.
