Making a Financial Commitment to Christ Church in 2010

For many people at Christ Church, they are facing financial uncertainty and are unable to make a year long-pledge to Christ Church.  Still, all members will be helpful and good stewards of Christ Church if they make known to the Vestry their expected financial support to Christ Church.

Parishioners have asked, "Can I make a commitment for a shorter period of time?"  The answer is "yes."  It may make sense to make a financial pledge between now and May 31st, or June 30th.  You pick the time frame for the amount pledged.

Please click here for your email program to generate an email to Cecilia Wagner, who will keep your electronic pledge confidential.  Please copy the following text into the body of the email, changing the information as necessary.

With gratitude to God, and in stewardship for Christ Church Philadelphia, I/we pledge to give $__________ weekly to support our mission and ministry in the city of Philadelphia and in the world.  This commitment will be to the end of 2010, or as indicated here:

Making a pledge by recurring bank account withdrawl or credit card transaction

Christ Church has a new, highly secure and reliable web-based Online Contribution system. You may use it for one time or recurring gifts to Christ Church, using your checking account, or debit or credit card.

If you designate that your online gift be a recurring weekly, monthly or quarterly withdrawl (which you can change or stop at anytime), this will be counted as a pledge to Christ Church, and will help tremendously with our budgeting and cash flow.

For your security, you must create a sign in account on the Christ Church membership website.

To do so, please click here, or paste the following address into your browser:

You will see this screen:

Complete the form, using the email address on file at Christ Church. You will be emailed the info to sign in for the first time.

Once you sign in, you will arrive at your personal screen that allows you to click “Give Now.”

From there, the process is pretty self-explanatory.  If you have questions, please contact Jeanne Stuardi.

Why use Online Giving?

Online giving allows a safe and secure way to manage your pledge, and you now can track your giving history online, not waiting for a statement from the church. If you set up recurring giving, Christ Church has a steadier cash flow.

When I am in church, can I still put an offering in the plate?

Yes. It is always important to participate in the offering during the church service. Newcomers often comment when they see church members not putting gifts into the plate, they think they don’t need to. Any offering given in church will be credited toward your pledge. If your entire pledge is through online giving, consider putting an additional gift for outreach or another purpose. If you use a check, or an envelope with your name, you will be credited.

Questions: Please contact Jeanne Stuardi, 215.922.1695, ext. 36.

Pledge cards are available at Sunday services at Christ Church after each service.  If you would like your pledge card sent to you, please contact, Cecilia Wagner.

STEWARDSHIP 2010 – ANNUAL GIVING

It is fitting that the theme during this year's stewardship campaign be: Looking to the Future - A Community of Stewards at Christ Church.

The 2010 Access Project proceeding now in Neighborhood House and the discernment process to search for a new Director of Music/Organist will ask us to individually and collectively think about the future of Christ Church. We will be asking ourselves - What should the future of Christ Church look like and what will I do to make this happen?

Here are some things to prayerfully consider:

LISTEN AND SHARE: Over the next several weeks leading up to Stewardship Sunday on November 15 (one service at 10AM), members of our church community will be sharing with us what their hopes are for the future. If you have a story to share, please let us know. Our prayer is that these shared stories will help lead us each to discern the future as well as face the challenges and opportunities to make it a reality.

TAKE PART IN THE DISCUSSION: There will be opportunities for all of us to share in this discussion in small group settings - informal conversations within which we are all encouraged to join. Also, plan now to participate in the Parish Forum on Saturday morning, October 10, as we gather to discuss our vision for the future.

ASK - WHAT IS MY STEWARDSHIP ROLE IN CHRIST CHURCH'S FUTURE?: While true stewardship has no season, it makes sense to take time, each of us, to reflect and commit again to what we believe that stewardship role should be. This is truly about TIME, TALENT and TREASURE. During this season we will reflect not only on our role as a financial steward, but on so many ways to be a steward of time and talent - participating in a Parish Work Day (September 19 & October 31), volunteering as an usher or reader, assisting the Flower and Altar Guilds, just to name a few.

We have a clear opportunity NOW to hear and move in God’s direction for Christ Church. What better way to serve than to be that "good and faithful steward".

STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

There is good news to report as we gather in our pledges for 2010. Those heartfelt words and thoughts about Stewardship that our fellow pilgrims shared with us over these last weeks are being reflected in

our response to the future of Christ Church.

To date, the average pledge is trending higher. What a testament to our trust in and commitment even in light of these challenging economic times!

More than 10% of the pledges received thus far are from first-time pledgers. Building on the 2009 Stewardship Campaign where a record number of new stewards added their support to our future, this speaks strongly to the vitality and engagement of our expanding community of faith.

There is much left to do. It is important that we gather in all pledges as soon as possible. This information

is critical to the planning of the 2010 Operating Budget, now under way. Simply place your pledge card in the offering plate, hand it to an usher or clergy or return it to the Church Office.

If you need a pledge card, please feel free to ask an usher for one or contact the Church Office.
