Children at Christ Church
Welcome infants and toddlers! Our
air-conditioned nursery is on the 2nd floor of Neighborhood House and is open this
morning from 8:45 - Noon for all children through three years of
age. Please remember to fill out our new information sheets so we can have
correct information about your child on file, including allergies and any
medical issues. Also, please bring a supply of diapers and any formula or
snacks.
Children four years and older are warmly welcomed
in church in July and August. Coloring and puzzle activities are available for children during
services and are located in a basket in the back of
church.
The Sunday Forum
10:10AM in Neighborhood House
Each Sunday, the congregation gathers to discuss
with the rector how the scripture being preached upon applies to real issues of
life and culture, or, how an issue in life or culture can be enlightened by
scripture and theology.
All our welcome.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING EVENTS
Join
the Summer Choir
An
informal way to get involved in the music leadership at Christ Church is to
sing with the Summer Choir.
The Summer Choir will meet at 10 A.M each Sunday in July and August. Parker
Kitterman will prepare the choir
to sing the Service music and a simple anthem in the 11A.M. Service.
Children’s Choir
Starting This Fall
We are pleased to announce
the formation of a children’s choir at Christ Church beginning this fall. We
welcome all children aged 4-13, regardless of musical experience or religious
affiliation. Weekly rehearsals will include motion, games, and experiential
music-making especially for the younger children; all the while developing the
ear, sight-reading ability, and learning the fundamentals of good singing.
Participation in a choir has proven long-term social, intellectual, and
spiritual benefits, and is just plain fun. We hope your family will be able to
participate.
To make this work, we
need active participation from children and parents alike. If you haven’t
already responded, please contact the Director of Music, Parker Kitterman at pkitterman@christchurchphila.org
or 215.922.1695, ext 27 with your child(ren)’s name(s) and age(s) and your preferred
weekly rehearsal times (one rehearsal per week). Potential rehearsal
times are:
Monday through Friday 4-6PM
or 5-7PM
Monday/Wednesday 6-8PM
Saturday 9-11AM or
10-noon
Sunday
1-3 or 2-4PM
Third Annual Family
Retreat – Register Now!
The 3rd Annual
Christ Church Family Retreat will be October 14, 15 & 16, held again at the rustic Quaker retreat center
called Camp Dark Waters on the Rancocas Creek in Medford, New Jersey, in the
Pinelands only about 17 miles from Philly. Last year, families of all
shapes and sizes had a blast, staying in cabins on its 15 acres, cooking meals
together in the kitchen, and enjoying structured activities as well as plenty
of downtime with the camp’s canoes, rope course, trails, basketball, ping-pong
tables, etc. The cost will be approximately $50 per person for the entire
weekend, which will include the cost of meals and facilitators. Planning
is under way; many thanks to Lynn Safford and Cecilia Wagner for again offering
their leadership skills to head up this event. For now, please contact Cecilia
(cwagner@christchurchphila.org)
to reserve a space for the weekend or to let us know of any particular ways
you’d like to be involved in making this happen. Plan ahead for this
special weekend of fellowship in the beauty of autumn.
Bishop’s
Blend Coffee, Tea and Honey!
Our
Outreach Committee offers Bishop’s Blend Coffee, tea, and honey, for sale the
first Sunday of the month after
Services. The proceeds of this special organic coffee, grown under fair-trade

your fellow parishioners for a community building time.

Mary Andrews Legacy
Society
Christ Church has
established the Mary Andrews Legacy Society to give participants an opportunity
to witness the role that faith has played in their lives by showing that they
have made an enduring gift to Christ Church. Mary Andrews gave the first known
gift through a will to Christ Church for the pulpit still used today. If you have included Christ Church in
your will and would like to participate in the Mary Andrews Legacy Society,
please contact Cecilia Wagner
in the Church office or Ken Frantz
(610-306-3010), Chair of the Planned Giving committee, to make sure we have
your name and contact information.
Free Parking
When attending Christ
Church services, classes and fellowship on Sunday morning, you may park free of
charge in the lot behind Neighborhood House. Always display the "ATTENDING SERVICES" sign
(available from an usher or the office) on both sides of your dashboard. On
Market St., be sure to put a sign on the back windshield, too! This also allows
free parking on Market, American and both sides of Second Streets, but NOT IN
THE SEPTA BUS ZONE NOR FILBERT STREET!
If you receive a parking violations ticket while parking in the
allowable spaces for Sunday or Wednesday service, give the ticket (or a good
copy) to the office. Please leave
your name with the ticket.
Memorial Flowers
Flowers may be placed on
the altar of Christ Church as a memorial to a person who has died, or to
commemorate a special event or anniversary. The suggested donation is $50.00. Please call the parish office at
215.922.1695 to make arrangements, or email: mail@christchurchphila.org
