Tradition Remixed: Dec. 6 Workshop

Tradition Remixed: Translating Anglican Worship Traditions into the 21st-Century Church

Thanks to a Worship Renewal Grant to Christ Church Philadelphia - from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc - for exploring new liturgical and musical resources within the Anglican traditions, Christ Church will host an afternoon workshop on Sunday, December 6, culminating in a special Advent liturgy at 5 p.m.

The workshop will be led by the Rev. Stephanie Spellers, author of Radical Welcome and founder of the emergent community within the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Boston, called the Crossing, and by Ed Broms, director of music from the cathedral and a skilled jazz musician. They will focus on musical and liturgical possibilities based on, in the words of Archbishop Rowan Williams, “a mixed economy” of tradition and innovation. Together we’ll work through the classic “ordo” of worship, with resources that are interpreted and refreshed.

The workshop begins with lunch provided at 12:30 and ends with the service from 5-6 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $20 per person; registration deadline is Tuesday, December 1. To register and pay, please email the Rev. Susan Richardson at srichardson@christchurchphila.org and send a check made out to Christ Church with "Dec 6 workshop" on the memo line.

As always, all are welcome at the 5 p.m. service, regardless of whether they have participated in the workshop.  Have your family and friends come join you!
