The Application Process
To respect the effort the application process takes, we will have a two-tier application procedure. By January 10, 2010, please submit your curriculum vita, a recording of your work on the organ and, if available, with a choir, and a one-page response to this portion of the Rector’s statement above, letting us know how this might be a description of your and your ministry:
We are seeking a director of music who is skilled in offering music solidly in what can be seen as traditional Episcopal music, but whose awareness of the worship in other traditions and other musical resources in our city, country, and world, including newer music by contemporary sacred-music composers, might make our experience of worship even more beautiful and more moving.
All written materials should be submitted in PDF or Word format to srichardson@christchurchphila.org. We would prefer a weblink to download a MP3 file of your recording; or send a CD by the deadline to: The Rev. Susan Richardson, 20 N. American Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. The search for a permanent director of music is independent of our current interim arrangement, and all candidates are subject to the same application process.
By January 25, semifinalists for the position will be asked to complete and submit additional materials and provide references, which will be due by February 14.
By March 1, finalists will be notified, and a one-day visit to Christ Church before Palm Sunday or after Easter will be arranged.
We anticipate making our call to the next director of music on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, with a starting date of September 1, 2010.
